Manual Lymphatic Drainage
MLD is a method to move a protein-rich fluid which has accumulated in the tissue that has pooled or become stagnant due to the removal or radiation of lymph nodes in the system. MLD can aide in the reduction of swelling, provide a relaxed feeling and help with pain in addition to many other benefits, it is excellent in pre and post surgery.
The Lymphatic System is part of the immune system and is like your "plumbing", it transports infection-fighting cells and is involved in the filtration and removal of foreign matter and cell debris. If this system is compromised in any way (such as a Lymph Node removal) a build up of fluid can occur known as Lymphedema.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a type of gentle massage which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph.
MLD is excellent Pre and Post Surgery treatment and can be performed immediately after most surgeries.
It's an effective treatment to reduce EDEMA, a swelling which can be a result of surgery, swelling at an injury site such as a sprain, or from build up of lymphatic fluid (like when flying). MLD is excellent for overall immunity, detoxification and relaxation.
MLD is key to a faster recovery for treatments such as Face Lift’s, Liposuction, Brazilian Butt Lift, Tummy Tucks, Mommy MakeOver’s, Face Tight procedures, and Knee Replacement. Receiving treatment as soon as possible aides in quicker recovery time. After surgeries the lymphatic system can become sluggish and over whelmed. It is critical to move the excess fluid so that recovery and healing can start, in addition to moving fluid the potential of scar tissue decreases.
MLD can be used for the following:
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Pre/Post Face Lifts
Migraine and Sinus Headaches
Swelling due to Immobility
Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)
Post Hallux Rigidus
